# Windows Update Blocker

Windows Update can restart your PC unexpectedly, killing your Ragnabot session mid-grind. Use **Windows Update Blocker** to temporarily disable automatic updates while botting.

***

## ❓ Why Block Windows Updates?

| Problem                  | Impact                                         |
| ------------------------ | ---------------------------------------------- |
| **Forced restarts** | PC reboots in the middle of a farming session |
| **Background downloads** | Consumes bandwidth and causes lag spikes |
| **Update installations** | High CPU/disk usage slows down the game client |

{% hint style="warning" %}
This is meant for **temporary use** while running Ragnabot. Remember to re-enable updates periodically to keep your system secure.
{% endhint %}

### Step 1: Download & Extract

1. Click the download link on the Sordum page
2. Extract the `.zip` file to any folder

### Step 2: Launch the Tool

Run **`Wub.exe`** from the extracted folder. No installation needed — it runs as a portable app.

On the first launch, Windows may show a SmartScreen warning. Click **More info** → **Run anyway** to proceed. The tool is safe and widely used.
{% endhint %}

### Step 3: Disable Windows Update

1. Select **Disable Updates** (radio button)
2. Check **Protect Services Settings** to prevent Windows from re-enabling updates on its own
3. Click **Apply Now**

The status icon will turn **red**, confirming that Windows Update has been disabled.

### Step 4: Re-enable Windows Update

When you're done with your bot session and want to update your system:

1. Open **Wub.exe** again
2. Select **Enable Updates**
3. Click **Apply Now**

The status icon will turn **green**, confirming updates are active again.

## 📊 Status Indicators

| Icon Color   | Meaning                                                                     |
| ------------ | --------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| 🟢 **Green** | Windows Update is **enabled** — updates will download and install normally |
| 🔴 **Red** | Windows Update is **disabled** — no updates will be downloaded or installed |

## ⚙️ Recommended Setup for Botting

For the best experience while running Ragnabot:

1. **Before starting a session** — Open Wub.exe, disable updates, and protect service settings
2. **After finishing** — Re-enable updates to keep your system secure
3. **Weekly** — Let Windows install pending updates to stay protected

{% hint style="success" %}
**Tip:** Keep Wub.exe in the same folder as Ragnabot so it's always handy when you start a session.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://xgine.gitbook.io/xgine-docs/getting-started/windows-update-blocker.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
